on the mirror: the 100 lovers

february

You hold your hand outstretched. Your fingers glide across the ribbons, only pausing when the moment feels right. When a certain love poem speaks to you. The words typed by a vintage typewriter are bright and alive. Or perhaps you stay a bit longer. You read different reflections of love until finally, you see yourself reflected in the words. You unfasten the poem and slip it in your pocket. This poem becomes a token, a memory-keeper. A poem that is solely yours.

This immersive art installation invites you to reflect on the love you give and receive. Designed by Melvin Vella, Brand Marketing Manager at the hotel, the artwork draws inspiration from The Lovers tarot card, echoing themes of serendipity, fate and the One Hundred Shoreditch brand.

Olivia Dodd is a poet, playwright, and actor. Her work aims to foster empathetic connections between strangers through poetry. Each poem featured in the installation was written on the spot for a stranger and captures a wide variety of love stories. Graduate of The Royal Central School of Speech & Drama, she brings her "Poetry for Strangers" project across London.
